Raincoast Wild Albacore Tuna are caught off the coastlines in the Pacific Northwest region. When the tuna pass through this icy area their flesh has its greatest oil content making for a better tasting, more nutritious fish.
Raincoast's hand-operated pole and line fishing technique replaces traditional netting practices and helps reduce bycatch. The only time the tuna is cooked is during the actual canning procedure and then only once. This facilitates the preservation of the tuna's nutritional oils and natural flavor throughout the canning process, and consequently there is no need to add any water or oil to keep the fish moist in the can.
